Pixelfed is free and open-source software licensed under AGPL-3.0. There are no commercial tiers or subscription plans for the software itself. Operators choose one of three deployment paths depending on their budget and technical capacity.
Plans is the machine-readable pricing-plan profile for Pixelfed on the APIs.io network, conforming to the API Commons Plans specification.
It defines 3 plans, with named plans including Self-Hosted (Free), Managed Hosting (Third-party), Pixelfed.social (Flagship Instance).

Plans
Download and run Pixelfed on your own infrastructure. No platform fees. Costs are limited to your server, storage, and bandwidth. Docker Compose and bare-metal installation guides are provided.
Several third-party providers offer fully-managed Pixelfed instances. Representative pricing starts around $0.99/month for small personal instances and rises with storage and traffic.
The primary public instance run by the Pixelfed project maintainer. Registration is open to the public. Free to join; sustained by community donations via Patreon and Open Collective.
