Pandora API access is tied to Pandora subscription tiers available to listeners. Partners can integrate at the Free, Plus, or Premium subscription levels, each unlocking progressively richer playback and content capabilities. API access itself requires an approved partner relationship with Pandora; there is no self-serve public registration.

Entry-level tier providing ad-supported access. Partners building on this tier can offer station creation, search, thumbprint radio, full track database access, thumb feedback, and limited skip functionality. Timeout prompts occur most frequently at this tier.
Mid-tier subscription removing advertisements and lifting skip limits. Partners building on Plus can offer unlimited skipping, song replay (subject to licensing), higher-quality audio, and less frequent timeout prompts compared to Free.
Top-tier subscription with full on-demand capabilities. Partners building on Premium can offer on-demand track, album, playlist, and podcast playback, shuffle, and offline listening. Timeout prompts are least frequent at this tier.
