Aws Redshift Plans Pricing
Amazon Redshift offers two deployment shapes — Serverless (per-RPU-hour) and Provisioned (per-node-hour for RA3 / DC2 / DS2). Both bill compute separately from Redshift Managed Storage (RMS), Spectrum scans, concurrency scaling beyond the 1-hour-per-day free credit, and cross-region data transfer. Reserved Instances offer up to ~75% discount over on-demand for provisioned clusters.
Plans
On-demand data warehouse charged per Redshift Processing Unit-hour (RPU-hour) with 60-second minimum. Auto-scales; no node management. Storage billed separately as RMS.
- Auto-scaling RPUs
- 60-second minimum charge
- Pay only when running queries
- Serverless namespaces (up to 25 default)
- Up to 32 TB RMS for 4-RPU; 128 TB for 8/16/24-RPU workloads
Provisioned cluster on RA3 nodes (recommended current generation). Compute and storage separated — RMS billed per GB-month independently of node hours.
- Separate compute and storage scaling
- Up to 128 RA3 nodes per cluster
- AQUA, Concurrency Scaling, Data Sharing
- Reserved instances available
DC2 / DS2 dense storage / dense compute previous-generation nodes. Still available but RA3 + RMS is recommended.
- Up to 128 DC2 nodes per cluster
- Local SSD storage included
1- or 3-year commitment for provisioned clusters. Three payment options (No Upfront, Partial, All Upfront).
- 1-year or 3-year terms
- No Upfront / Partial Upfront / All Upfront
- Up to 200 reserved nodes per region
Burst capacity for high-concurrency workloads. 1 hour of free concurrency-scaling credits per cluster per day; per-second on-demand pricing thereafter (1-minute minimum).
- 1 hour/day free credit per cluster
- 1-minute minimum charge once activated
Query S3 data directly via Redshift. Charged per TB of data scanned with 10 MB minimum per query.
- 10 MB minimum per query
- Reads from S3 (compatible with Glue Data Catalog)
In-region transfer between Redshift and S3 for backup/restore/load is free; cross-region transfers follow standard AWS data-transfer rates.
- Free in-region transfer with S3
- Cross-region transfers billed at AWS data-transfer rates
